We Hosted a Hell of a Dance Party

It's hard to deny that South by Southwest (SXSW) has changed significantly. What started as a small gathering of music and art enthusiasts has evolved into a massive, corporate-sponsored event that showcases the latest tech gadgets and platforms more than anything else.

Old School Renegade

But for one night during SXSW 2023, GRAV and Club E brought back the festival's renegade spirit by throwing an underground dance party at the Montopolis Bridge. This iconic Austin landmark became a dance floor for the night, and over 300 people showed up to groove to the beat and celebrate everything that makes ATX great.

The event was a throwback to the older days of SXSW, focusing on community, vibes, music, and art. The organizers wanted to show everyone that the festival is still about the local music scene and that the rebellious spirit that put Austin on the map is still alive and well.

The event description promised a wild party featuring Austin's hottest local music scene, and Club E delivered. Each DJ had their own stylized sets that ranged from classic house to throwbacks that no one expected. Like any good house party, we started slow and steady and built up to a crescendo that got everyone moving. The beats were sick, and the vibes were excellent, just as promised.

We Keep It Real

Of course, throwing an underground party during SXSW isn't the most above-board thing to do. But that's how GRAV and Club E roll. We wanted to go rogue and show everyone that the festival shouldn't focus on corporate sponsors and tech company BS. Instead, it can be about something more authentic and meaningful, like setting up a safe and enjoyable space to party in that celebrates diversity and community.

And that's precisely what the party was. It celebrated everything that makes Austin excellent, from the music to the people to the rebellious spirit that's always been a part of the city's DNA. The organizers were proud to give local talent a platform to shine and to bring together a community that shares their love for ATX.

Come Back for More

In the end, the event was a huge success. Everyone had a great time, and nothing hurt. It was a reminder that even as SXSW continues to evolve and change, people will always want to keep the festival's original spirit alive. And as long as there are groups like GRAV and Club E, the renegade parties will never die.

So, if you're looking for an authentic Austin experience during SXSW, look no further than an underground dance party. It's a celebration of everything that makes the ATX great, and it's sure to be a good time.
