Holiday Sippers

The GRAV Sip Series has landed, in plenty of time for the holidays.

Inspired by our favorite sippable containers, each bubbler is designed to fit comfortably in your hand, just like the beverage vessels that they were based on. And each was specially adapted to make them into useful (and charming) water pipes.

With the holiday festivities approaching, we decided to use our drink-inspired bubblers to suggest some bubbler-inspired drinks! Whip up a batch during your next party for people to sip while waiting for the bubbler or pipe to come around. Here are five holiday cocktails to try this season, inspired by our new Sip Series.

GRAV Coffee Mug + Mulled Wine

The Grav Coffee Mug is dedicated to everyone’s second favorite — and necessary — vice. It would have been easy to take a short cylinder bubbler, slap a handle on it, and call it a mug. But instead, the handle is integrated into the mug as part of the perc. The bubbler has a nice big chamber considering the piece’s modest overall size. Have a big mug of coffee in the morning and a big rip off this guy in the evening to bookend a productive day.

For the perfect mug-appropriate holiday drink, how about mulled wine? Cheap red wine is spiced up with star anise, cloves, and cinnamon sticks, and given a little extra oomph with some brandy.

Mulled wine is ideal for holiday parties. Make a big batch and just keep it warm on the stovetop or in the crockpot. Let your guests help themselves as you pass the Coffee Mug around the room.

GRAV Slush Cup + Frozen Hot Chocolate

Are there many shapes more iconic than the slush cup? That domed top with the straw hole just screams sugary goodness.

The GRAV Slush Cup is one of the biggest members of the Sip Series at 7.5” tall. Where the straw would normally be, you’ll find a 14 mm cup bowl. The cup has a large volume and clean design for big slurps without the brain freeze.

The traditional slush is definitely more of a summer flavor than a winter treat. But if you’re one of those odd people who wants a cold drink when it’s cold outside, then this boozy frozen hot chocolate is for you. Made of blended hot chocolate mix, milk, vanilla vodka, and ice, this is basically an alcoholic milkshake. Top it with mini marshmallows and a candy cane to make it feel holiday-appropriate.

GRAV Martini Glass + Peach Pomegranate Martini

The only thing that has changed about the martini glass lately has been the size. They used to hold a modest 4 ounces of liquid, but today’s jumbo versions can hold as many as 10 ounces. We thought it was time that this cocktail classic deserved an upgrade. Hence, the GRAV Martini Glass.

This bubbler is one of the most visually-striking when filled with smoke. The smoke fills the martini glass profile within the outer shell, highlighting the unique glass shape.

For a wintery martini, I looked for a drink that featured cold-weather fruit. Pomegranates, peaches, oranges, and lemons are all in season through the cold months, which is why they are perfect additions to a festive cocktail.

This Peach Pomegranate Martini uses pomegranate vodka, peach schnapps, orange, and lemon. Shake it up for an easy martini. If you can’t find pomegranate vodka, plain vodka and a splash of pomegranate juice will do just fine.

GRAV Martini Shaker + Merry Manhattan

The GRAV Martini Shaker is just begging for a place of honor on a handsome wooden bar cart among crystal decanters and obscure liqueurs. (The kitchen counter will also do if you’re not that fancy.) The shaker has a large volume and works well with both high and low water levels, depending on how much water resistance you prefer.

What would Don Draper drink if he were feeling cheery? Maybe a holiday Manhattan — as long as someone else made it. I can’t imagine him whipping up homemade simple syrup. But since you’re probably much more well-adjusted than Don Draper, you should try your hand.

This Merry Manhattan starts like the classic — 2 oz whiskey or bourbon, a bit of vermouth, and a couple dashes of bitters. But this version gets a little kick from the spiced simple syrup.

Basic simple syrup is just sugar dissolved in warm water at about a 1 to 1 ratio. You can add fruit, herbs, spices, chiles, and even flowers to the recipe for unique flavors to add to drinks and fruit.

The simple syrup for the Merry Manhattan is made with ginger, star anise, cinnamon sticks, and cardamom. It will put the holiday spirit in your sipper.

GRAV Milk Carton + Good Ol’ Boozy Eggnog

Not gonna lie, the GRAV Milk Carton may be the cutest bubbler of all time. This little guy is about the size of a kid’s school lunch milk carton — 3” x 3” x 4”. Since it’s so small and compact, it requires less water than most pipes. Plus, look how cute it is!

To go along with this precious bit of childhood nostalgia, how about some very grown-up eggnog? None of that out of the carton stuff here, though. We’re talking made-from-scratch, gourmet nog.

This eggnog recipe uses eggs, sugar, whole milk, heavy cream, and fresh nutmeg for a creamy and rich drink. For the booze, you can choose brandy, dark rum, or bourbon. I’ll take rum in mine, please and thank you.

Party On

If there’s ever a time to get clever with the cocktails, it’s during the holidays, right? Beer and wine are the rest of the year’s domain.

A bubbler in one hand and a cocktail in the other — that’s a pretty solid way to spend Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, and New Years. And as always, please drink (and smoke) responsibly.
